History Has Recognized Another Veronica

By David Martin

Jesus was crucified by his own 2000 years ago, and Jesus today is again being crucified by his own people. Though we live in an age of scientific advancement, nothing has really changed from Our Lord's time, but history has rather repeated itself.

The scribes and high priests were the magistrates of God's people, and were supposed to be deserving of respect, but they dissented from the Law of Moses and went the way of disobedience. Compelled with envy, they stirred the people up against Jesus and led him to the cross, calling him a rebel and malefactor, because of which many fled the cross while others joined the jeering crowd to save their skin.

But there was one brave soul, St. Veronica of the Gospel, who came forward with compassion to wipe Jesus' face with a towel. In so doing, she showed public disapproval for her priest's actions, but she is listed as a hero in Bible history. Her feast is July 12.

In our time, Jesus again is being led up to the cross by clerics who have dissented from God's Law. Once again we see the high priests stirring the people up against Jesus for his doctrine and miracles, feigning themselves as just, while they in fact are disobedient to Christ. And as in Jesus' day, we see many joining the jeering crowd under the guise of obedience as they ridicule Christ's tradition and reject his prophecies, fearing that their authenticity will oblige them to give up the idol of change that has seduced them for the past fifty years.

But history has recognized another Veronica, a simple and devout soul, who had the courage to come forward and wipe Jesus' face with compassion. She too stepped out of line and showed public disapproval for her priest's actions, never thinking of her own comfort, never looking for acceptance, but seeking only God's glory. As such, God used her to transmit his message to the world in these latter days.

From 1970-1995, the Virgin Mary and Jesus appeared to Veronica Lueken during Rosary vigils at the apparition site of Bayside, New York, and delivered to the world over 300 powerful and enlightening messages of prophecy. The clergy were given fair warning to rid the Church of the present modes of change and innovation, and to return the Church to its former position of honor as it stood before Vatican II.

Jesus says he is not pleased with his clergy who now use their rank to mislead the children of God. He says, "Homosexuality is a sin that condemns to hell! (August 4, 1979) He says, "No woman shall stand in the holy place!" (July 15, 1977) He tells us that "Satan himself, the deceiver of all mankind, sat in on Vatican II and maneuvered all the outsiders to come in and distort My doctrines and distort the truth." (June 18, 1986)

For these and many other like messages, Veronica was slammed, insulted, defamed by the media, accused of disobedience, called a schismatic, a lunatic, and every name in the book. As with Jesus in his day, so Veronica stirred great controversy and consternation among the ancients for bringing to light their hypocrisy and their betrayal of holy tradition, for which she was despised and rejected by the hierarchy, even to the point of being denied a just hearing from her bishop when she humbly requested it.

But Veronica will go down as a saint whom God raised up in the latter times to champion his cause when the Mystical Body was passing through its Passion. Already she is known as Veronica of the Cross, who interestingly was born on July 12, 1923, the feast of St. Veronica. It is through the armies of Heaven being raised up by Our Lady through Veronica that the floundering Barque of Peter is being held afloat until help arrives from Heaven.

There are other groups throughout the world, especially the pro-family warriors, that are also contributing to this cause of restoration. They too are being ridiculed for being faithful and true. They too are being attacked by their priests. The rejection they receive for their fidelity to Church teaching, family values, and the Traditional Latin Mass, is fueled by one and the same malice that has been scourging the Bayside movement, so it is high time that the various tradition-minded groups start seeing Bayside as part of their family of friends, and that they understand that Our Lady is the one who is leading this final battle against the forces of Antichrist in anticipation of the triumph of her Immaculate Heart.

In the message of November 20, 1979, Jesus told Veronica: "The world, when it is renewed and restored, shall remember the battle fought by those who have worn the colors from Heaven. The armies from Heaven led by My Mother shall vanquish the head of the serpent." (Genesis 3:15)
